Choosing classroom audio

Three things to check before ordering

Match the connection

Check your device’s audio port, then confirm the product supports it. Models differ in their connection options, which can include 3.5mm, USB-A, USB-C, or wireless. A USB-C charging port does not necessarily carry audio.

Decide if students need a microphone

Headphones cover listening. For speaking, recording, or communication, choose a model with a microphone and check that both audio and microphone work through your chosen connection.

Plan your classroom quantity

Count the headsets needed for each classroom, cart, or location. Check whether the listing is a single unit or a pack, or request a quote for help planning a larger order.

Califone purchasing questions

Which Califone model should we start with?

For pre-K and early grades, Listening First and KH-12 headphones are sized for small heads. The CA-2 is the budget on-ear choice and comes in packs up to 1,000. For speaking and recording, NeoTech Plus and KH-08 headsets add a boom or in-line microphone, and the 2021 Deluxe line offers over-ear headphones (2021AV) and headsets with a gooseneck mic (2021MT). E1, E2 and E3 earbuds cover low-cost and one-per-student use.

Can Califone headsets be used for online testing?

Many can, when the plug matches the device and the testing platform. For Chromebooks and tablets, choose a single-plug 3.5mm TRRS headset; for desktops and labs, USB models also work. Test one headset with your platform before a large order.

What is a listening center?

A listening center connects one audio source to several headphones through a jackbox, so a small group hears the same story or lesson on their own headphones. It is common in literacy centers and ESL/ELL groups.

Can we replace ear pads and cushions?

Yes. We stock replacement ear pads for the 3068 and 2800 series and for the Discovery and Odyssey series, ear foams for the CA-2, and 50-pair cushion packs for E2 and E3 earbuds. Replacing worn parts keeps shared headphones clean and in service for less.

How do I order the right number for a classroom?

For a single-unit listing, the order quantity is the number of units you want. For a pack listing, multiply the packs ordered by the units included per pack. For example, two 50-packs contain 100 headphones. Check the specific listing before adding to your cart.

Can our school request a quote or use a purchase order?

Learning Headphones accepts school purchase orders, supports tax-exempt checkout and volume pricing, and provides quotes for classroom quantities, listening centers and multi-site orders. Use the Request a Quote page and include your preferred models, total quantity, device connections, and purchasing requirements.
