Choose headsets for your school Chromebooks

Match the selected model to your Chromebook ports and speaking activities, then compare fit and classroom quantities.

Check the ports first

Many Chromebooks have a single 3.5mm jack that supports a headset microphone, which needs a 4-pole TRRS plug. Some newer models offer USB-C only. Our Chromebook audio guide covers the details.

Choose the right microphone

A boom microphone gives clearer recordings for speaking tests and language apps. An in-line microphone works for video calls and everyday classroom use.

Plan fit and quantities

Review adjustment, cushions, cable length, and cleaning instructions. Check units per listing and minimum quantities before preparing your school order.

Chromebook headsets FAQ

Will a dual-plug headset work on a Chromebook?

Usually not without an adapter. Most Chromebooks have one combined 3.5mm jack, so a single-plug TRRS headset or a USB headset is the simpler choice. Dual-plug headsets are designed for computers with separate headphone and microphone jacks.

Will USB-C headsets work on our Chromebooks?

USB-C headsets need a Chromebook with a USB-C port that supports audio. Review the supported devices for the selected model, and test it with your exact Chromebooks and software before a bulk order.

Can these headsets be used for state testing?

Many can. Speaking tests such as WIDA ACCESS and ELPAC need a headset with a microphone, and most states do not allow Bluetooth. For wired testing options, see our testing headsets with a microphone.

How do we check the microphone works?

Plug the headset in before opening the test or app, then run the platform's microphone check. On a Chromebook, you can also select the headset as the input device in the audio settings.

Should we use a USB-C to 3.5mm adapter?

An adapter can work, but low-cost adapters may cause audio lag or microphone problems. If your Chromebooks are USB-C only, a native USB-C headset is usually more reliable.

Can our school request a quote and use a purchase order?

Yes. Learning Headphones accepts purchase orders from schools and districts. Share your preferred products, Chromebook models, and quantities through the quote page for help preparing your order.
