- Microphone: built into the earcup, no boom
- Fit: on-ear, tilting earcups, adjustable headband

Why schools choose the AE-56 USB-C
- No boom to break. The KidCom™ microphone is built into the earcup, so there is no mic arm for students to bend, twist or snap off.
- Tough cord. A chew-resistant braided nylon cord with reinforced strain relief where it meets the earcup and plug, plus a cable strap for tidy storage.
- Sized for students. Lightweight at 5.1 oz, with an adjustable headband and tilting earcups for a comfortable fit over a long lesson or test.
- Award-winning. Named a Tech & Learning Best for Back to School 2026 winner.
Device compatibility
Connects directly to devices with a USB-C port that supports audio, including most current Chromebooks, laptops and tablets. USB-C ports vary, so confirm your device supports audio over USB-C before ordering. For devices with a 3.5mm headset jack, the AE-56 3.5mm TRRS version costs less. Test listening and recording on your exact device and software before a full rollout. More help: Chromebook audio guide.

Common questions
Will it work on our Chromebooks?
Yes, on Chromebooks with a USB-C port that supports audio, which covers most current models. For older Chromebooks with only a 3.5mm headset jack, choose the AE-56 3.5mm version.
Where is the microphone?
Inside the earcup. There is no boom arm, so there is nothing to position or break.
Does it need drivers or software?
Most devices recognize USB-C headsets automatically. Test on your exact device and assessment platform before a full rollout.
